Programs

Programs that we work with to help support our clients:
SAMHSA, CTS, OTF, MDR, SOR, MAT
At Opportunity Ministries we keep ourselves up to date on all grant and funding opportunities available. Resources available through grants and other sources of funding are on The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) website. SAMHSA is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.

Opportunity Ministries works with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Community Treatment Services (CTS) Program to break the cycle of substance abuse and its effects on criminal activity, health care, employment, parenting and other social concerns.

We also work with the Opportunity for Treatment Fund (OTF),which is a financial assistance grant for Anne Arundel County residents who need help paying for substance abuse treatment and who meet guidelines. OTF pays for treatment by community treatment providers and monitors them to ensure clients receive appropriate and high quality care.

Additionally, Maryland RecoveryNet,(MDR) develops partnerships with service providers, such as Opportunity Ministries, statewide and funds access to clinical and recovery support services for individuals with substance use/co occurring disorders treatment and recovery support needs.

All Maryland RecoveryNet service recipients receive Care Coordination through which they can access a menu of services which includes state funding for Halfway House and Recovery Housing, Transportation, Employment Services, Vital Records, Medical and Dental services, and other unmet needs as expressed by the service recipient and/or as identified by the Care Coordinator. All services are designed to assist recipients in remaining engaged in their recovery while promoting independence, self-sufficiency, and stability .

There is also the possibility of participants receiving federal funds provided by State Opioid Response Grants, (SOR). This program aims toaddress the opioid crisis by increasing access to medication-assisted treatment using the three FDA-approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder, reducing unmet treatment need, and reducing opioid overdose related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment and recovery activities for opioid use disorder (OUD) (including illicit use of prescription opioids, heroin, and fentanyl and fentanyl analogs). This program also supports evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery support services to address stimulant misuse and use disorders, including for cocaine and methamphetamine.

Medicated-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is also a program that we work with that provides funding. This program uses FDA-approved medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.
